LESSON 1: Install GeoServer

Objective:
This will walk you through how to install an instance of GeoServer on your local machine.
This is directed at windows users.

Installing a Java Development Kit

  1. Run the Java 2 Software Development Kit installer located in the same
    directory as this walk through.
    j2sdk-1_4_2_11_windows_i586-p.exe
  2. Accept the license agreement and click Next.
  3. On the Custom Setup screen:
    1. Disable the Public Java Runtime Environment.
    2. Specify C:\j2sdk1.4.2_12 as the installation directory.
    3. Click Next
  4. Click Finish once installation is complete.

Installing GeoServer

Unable to render {include} Couldn't find a page to include called: Install Windows

It will ask you about the Data Directory, just ignore it and hit next.
